MegaSys™ has implemented its technologically advanced Telenium™ Network Management System for ALLTEL Communications Inc. in Lincoln, Nebraska. This system provides support for both current and legacy network elements from Cordell and NEC.
The completion date of this installation came less than thirty days after the contract was awarded to MegaSys Computer Technologies, a definite advantage for ALLTEL as there was no support available for the legacy NEC equipment.
A key issue for this new system was the requirement to convert the non-TL1 protocol of the NEC 21DM RTUs to TL1 for the primary operations centre in ALLTEL. With Telenium, our TL1 North Bound Interface met this requirement and permitted the system to be installed and activated without any impact to the primary centre.
MegaSys developed the NEC 21DM protocol for this project which included the required emulation of the “NEC Hard Master”. Subsequently, the Hard Masters were removed from the network configuration eliminating a point of failure and maintenance issue for ALLTEL.
