Calgary, Alberta, Canada - April 09, 2002 -- MegaSys Computer Technologies,
the leading provider of advanced Network Management Systems, today announced
that it has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Tri-State Generation
and Transmission Association, Inc. of Westminster, Colorado for the Telecommunications
Network Management System (TNMS) which is the culmination of a five-year project
to upgrade Tri-State's analog communications network to a completely digital
network
The first phase of the TNMS providing fault management, configuration management,
and performance management for the key elements of the Tri-State communications
network and the second phase of TNMS additionally providing advanced circuit
management capabilities will be supplied and placed into operation in 2002 with
the remaining phase to be completed in the first quarter of 2003.
"Economic value and rapid delivery times are increasingly important to
all telecommunications network operators as they react and adjust to the volatile
telecommunications market. Telenium Global Network Management Solutions responds
with robust product solutions and rapid deployment to address those needs,"
said Dave Woronuk, President and CEO of MegaSys Computer Technologies. "We
remain committed to the success of our customers and continue to focus on supporting
our customers as strategic partners and to continuing to provide solutions meeting
the needs of our valued user community."
Most of the existing Tri-State infrastructure (sites, towers and microwave dishes)
will remain the same, but the signals that are received by them will be much
different, employing newer, more reliable technology in the form of digital
transmission. Because the obsolete analog system supplies Tri-State's dispatch
center in Westminster, Colo., with critical information needed to monitor the
plants and substations, the network's reliability is of utmost importance.
Various spurs and digital loops are still being upgraded on Colorado's Western
Slope, in Wyoming and New Mexico by Tri-State telecom maintenance personnel
and contractors.
"The Telenium product was selected for this critical Tri-State project
due to the ability of Telenium to directly manage the diverse network of telecommunications
equipment currently installed at Tri-State," said Jeff Selman, Manager,
Systems Protection & Telecommunications Engineering, of Tri-State Generation
and Transmission Association, Inc. "We are very confident of the ability
of MegaSys Computer Technologies to deliver the TNMS solution to Tri-State."
